Must be submitted by a young person aged 13-18.
Submissions must be aligned with policy, a current solution to an issue, or demonstrate advocacy.
Submissions must conform to YAPP's honor code.
We ask that submissions be uploaded in English at this time.
Submissions can be an op-ed, a call to action, a policy recommendation, or any related field.
We request that papers be no more than three pages long.
Aligning your paper with a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) is not required, as YAPP welcomes a wide range of advocacy and policy topics. That said, submissions that clearly align with an SDG may receive priority consideration for showcases and features. YAPP is not affiliated with the UN, but is inspired by the SDGs and global decision-making environments.
Authors will retain full ownership of their work. By submitting a paper through Youth Advocacy & Policy Publication (YAPP), authors grant YAPP permission to display, publish, and share their work with attribution. Authors can request the removal of their work at any time.
YAPP is a non-exclusive publisher. We accept submissions that have been published and submitted elsewhere. Please let us know in a follow-up email if you have previously published your work so we can appropriately credit it. However, submissions must be original work and not violate another organization's publishing agreement.
Yes, we just ask that you only submit one paper at a time. Our team will review each paper independently, and your denied paper will not be taken into account.
Submissions are reviewed based on:
Relevance to policy, advocacy, or a related field
Accuracy and proper sourcing, if applicable
Alignment with YAPP's Honor Code
Clarity and originality
YAPP will try to review submissions within 2-4 weeks. If you do not hear a response in that time frame, do not hesitate to send a follow-up email.
Suggestions may be made for minor edits, formatting, and clarity; however, authors will always be consulted before any changes are made.
YAPP may highlight select submissions in advocacy outreach or showcases; however, authors will be informed if their work is selected for outreach and will have the option of opting out.
Young people can participate by:
Submitting their story to be considered for interviews or features
Attending workshops
Helping promote youth advocacy and YAPP's mission
Any young person ages 13-18 can submit their work that aligns with YAPP's mission. No prior experience is necessary.
